Frankly, I abhor deception. I’ve been fooled one too many times in my 74 year lifetime. Each time it has happened, it made me more and more skeptical of just about everything in life. Government, media, advertising, food, as well as many other day to day things. I used to be one of the most trusting people I know. No more naiveté. The problem is, it’s exhausting having to fact check and verify nearly everything in life that hasn’t already proven itself to be worthy of my trust. Even then, a little skepticism remains. What’s my point here? We the people need to find a way to hold this vast array of influencers accountable… Somehow. Or else, the deception is only going to get worse. Here’s a great example of YouTube presenter, Rick Beato, using AI (Google’s Gemini) to ferret out the unsavory players on the Internet. We (you and I) need to find a way to prevail upon both legislators as well as content providers, like YouTube and Instagram, to do a better job of policing these influencers.
